Draft National Planning Policy Framework
01 October 2011
The draft framework has a stated aim of making the planning system less complex and more accessible, and to promote sustainable growth by looking at economic, social and environmental factors. It is designed to provide transparent planning processes, involving communities through the use of local and neighbourhood plans, considered on their individual merit.
ANEC's response welcomed the premise of simplifying the framework, the emphasis on cross boundary collaboration and taking a plan led approach. The response also welcomed Ministers' assurances that the revised National Planning Policy Framework would include clarification of the relationship between economic growth and social and environmental wellbeing.
